4 Nifty Ways to Make Cheap Vodka Taste Better

4 Nifty Ways to Make Cheap Vodka Taste Better:

If you thought that the bargain vodka was worth it but realized after the first taste that it's barely tolerable, don't panic. Before throwing it away and wasting even the budget price you paid for it, try these things to improve its less-than-desirable flavor.

Edit Steps

Water filter method

  1. Pour the vodka though a standard water filter. This removes impurities that can cause cheap vodka to taste duller than usual.

  2. Repeat 2-3 more times, each time using a clean bottle.

  3. Allow to stand briefly, then use for drinking.

Activated charcoal method

  1. Put 2 inches (5cm) of food safe activated charcoal into the vodka bottle. Then close the bottle.

  2. Leave for one week (yes, you do have to forgo it a bit longer). Shake the bottle for a few minutes daily.

  3. Put the vodka in a freezer during the night time, and put it on a counter or in room temperature at daytime.

  4. After one week has passed, remove the charcoal from the vodka by pouring the contents through a mesh, making sure that there is a bottle underneath the mesh.

Chill it

  1. Chill the vodka in a freezer for a few hours. Even nastier alcoholic drinks usually taste better when they are chilled.

Disguise the vodka taste

  1. Add better flavored products to the vodka and hide whatever cheap and nasty flavor is coming through. Here are some great ideas to help start you off:

    • Make chocolate vodka – chocolate will improve the vodka markedly
    • Make Skittles vodka – the sweetness of the Skittles will overcome any nasty edge!
    • Infuse the vodka with the flavor of your choice and cover up its less pleasant taste
    • Make cocktails with the vodka, such as a Molotov cocktail, a Cuban Missile Crisis cocktail, an apple vodka cocktail. For more vodka cocktail ideas, visit wikiHow's Vodka based cocktail selection.
  2. Cook with the vodka. Cooking with alcohol will help to disguise its poor flavor. In fact, cooking with the good stuff is sacrilege! So, add it to your favorite recipes that call for alcohol, from puddings to jam.
    • Vodka is a great addition to homemade sauces and ketchups.
    • Do an online search for "vodka recipes" and see what exciting things return for you to cook!
